Authenticity and Balance Set the 2017 BMW M2 Apart

March 29th, 2017 by

What makes a performance coupe a perennial favorite? While that answer has always been a subjective one, these days, it all seems to boil down to the authenticity of the driving experience. According to Autoblog, this is one that the BMW M2 not just nails, but excels at. It’s no wonder they’ve called it one of their favorite modern cars.

Early on in their coverage of the M2, Autoblog made a few favorable comparisons two other fabled sports cars—the 1M Coupe and the 2002 Turbo. Not only do these parallels hold up, they speak to the authenticity the M2 brings to the table: there’s no piped-in exhaust note through the cabin speakers, and the car is about as close to “flawlessly balanced” as you can get.

A note about that balance. BMW always strives to bring a 50/50 weight distribution to their cars, and this has never been more apparent than in the M2. Even with 365 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque—which is plenty for a car of its size—its chassis, combined with a manual transmission and solid steering feel negate the need for drive mode toggles that retune the suspension and engine performance.

How does it all come together, you might ask? The easiest way to experience it is to stop by our BMW dealership in El Paso, TX and sign up for a test drive. Contact us if you have any questions.
