Meet the First-Ever BMW M3 CS

December 20th, 2017 by

Last month, BMW announced the special edition M3 CS model, an ideal combination of practicality and performance. Featuring carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic throughout its construction, the M3 CS is extremely light and features a lower center of gravity for even better handling.

The 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine offers even greater performance than the standard M3, making 453 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. This results in a 0-60 mph sprint of just 3.7 seconds, and an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph (note: we absolutely advise that you follow all posted speed limits).

Thanks to a standard Adaptive M Suspension, the M3 CSS allows the driver to choose between Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes that feature different damper settings for each mode. There are also three settings for the electromechanical steering that can be adjusted with the touch of a button.

The chassis in the first-ever M3 CS includes Active M Differential, which enhances the vehicle's outstanding traction and stability. The control unit communicates with the Dynamic Stability Control system to factor in various mechanical aspects and adapt to the constantly-changing driving environment to ensure that torque is always delivered to the rear wheels.

The M3 CS will be available for U.S. customers to order in May 2018, and there will only be 1,200 manufactured for distribution across the world.
